mount san gorgonio - august 22, 2018

This was the sixth and final climb that I completed of southern california's "six pack of peaks" in preparation for my summit of mount whitney in september 2018.  it was an 18.5-mile round trip hike, to the summit of mount san gorgonio (elevation 11,503'), consisting of a hiking elevation gain of 5,393'.  This was a critical, "final tune-up" hike (prior to mount whitney) that i was afraid was not going to be possible because of forest fires in the area.  fortunately, just a week before i had planned to complete the hike, the forest closure was lifted.  you can see lingering smoke in some of these photos.
