Tijuana river valley - October 13, 2022

This was an interesting hike that literally started at the front door of our house.  It turned out to be quite different than I anticipated.  What I thought was going to be a rather leisurely 10 mile hike over wide, open trails was quite the opposite.  It turned out to be a 5.5 hours, 15.7 miles round trip hike, over the South and North Beach Trails, that traversed through dense underbrush (I could have used a machete at times) and open marshland.  The hike ranged from the Dairy Mart bridge over the Tijuana River to the shores of the Pacific Ocean and down to the Mexican border fence.  I encountered numerous bird species, a bobcat, and a coyote along the trails.
