Hellhole Canyon - january 26, 2023

This was our first hike in california's Anza-borrego desert state park.  The goal of this hike, on the hellhole canyon trail, was for jayce and I to see a flowing maidenhair falls.  unfortunately, the falls was dry (even with all of California's winter precipitation) but the hike up the canyon was still quite beautiful on a sunny 65 degree day!  This was a 5.2 mile hike, completed in about 2.5 hours and requiring a little over 900 feet of ascent.  The last quarter mile or so required some scrambling over and between large boulders.
